OurWorld Toolbar

OurWorld Toolbar is a browser extension that is supposed to improve your browsing functionality. It has been developed by the infamous Conduit Ltd. which is responsible for many unreliable and useless plug-ins. This one is no exception, and considering how dubious and fickle the Privacy Policy is, the only advisable option is to remove OurWorld Toolbar. At first glance, this toolbar actually seems quite genuine and useful, but in reality it is just a clutter of an add-on and is not actually useful or needed in your browser.

The focus of this toolbar seems to be a game called Our World. It is presumed that it is how the developers gain the majority of their profits, as the game requires in-app purchases and they give just enough content for free to make you want to buy available additional content. Due to this game, a lot of users download the extension on their own at ourworld.com.ourtoolbar.com and do not think they should delete OurWorld Toolbar. It is easy to overlook safety issues in the Privacy Policy, slow browser and potentially dangerous third-party links when you are sucked in a virtual world of a computer game.

If this scenario cannot be applied to your situation, the toolbar probably entered your computer’s system as a drive-by download, like Iminent Community Toolbar, Z-game Toolbar and Mixi.DJ Toolbar. That seems to be a rarer occurrence, though. Another interesting fact about this toolbar is that it actually asks for your approval to change the default home page and search engine to Conduit Search, and they do not pre-check any boxes you may not notice when installing the add-on. All that seem like features of a genuine program, and it would be that if it were not for the suspicious and untrustworthy Privacy Policy. Read the examples of the problematic policy:

<…> These Cookies collect and store information about your search activity when you use our web search services. This information may be shared with third party applications <…>.

The information collected and stored by these Cookies may include Personally Identifiable Information <…>.

In the event Conduit goes through a business transition <…> your information may be among the assets transferred. <…>

Some of these tools may give these third parties the ability to access, collect store and/or share your information <…>.

Luckily, the removal ease is consistent with other surprisingly benign qualities of the toolbar. You should be able to successfully remove OurWorld Toolbar following the instructions below. After you do that, it is still a good call to scan your computer’s system, because the aforementioned third party links could have easily led to a computer infection. A strong security tool, however, should prevent any potential harm.
