MyWebFace Toolbar

MyWebFace or MyWebFace toolbar is a browser plugin that is developed and redistributed by Mindspark Interactive Network, Inc. Other related products include myWebSearch Toolbar, Cursor Mania Toolbar and the like. MyWebFace can be download at mywebface.mywebsearch.com, and users commonly install this product on their own. However, it seems that quite often MyWebFace comes bundled with other freeware and shareware, and so it can be installed on your computer automatically, if you are not careful during the installation process. Although MyWebFace is not a dangerous infection on its own, it might be misused by a third party, and the general advice is to remove MyWebFace from your computer to avoid being infected with serious malware.

Officially, MyWebFace allows you to upload your picture online and then change it into a cartoon version thus creating an animated version of yourself. Later on the user can use this cartoon version of himself as an avatar in various social networks. Although it might seem that MyWebFace is a useful application with an entertaining function there is a negative aspect to it as well. If you install the default version of MyWebFace Toolbar, your homepage will be changed to mywebsearch.com. It will also monitor your browsing habits for marketing purposes, so that it would be able to improve its product.

Since MyWebFace has an access to your browsing records, it can be exploited by a third party to store your personal data as well. Also, you might be flooded with pop-up advertisements that offer various commercial services you have no interest in. What is more, these pop-up advertisements may be related to websites that are infected with spyware. As a result, you might be redirected to dangerous website and it would result in a Trojan or fake antivirus infection.

If you do not want to be redirected to third party websites, and you do not wish to see pop-up advertisements on your screen, you have to remove MyWebFace Toolbar from your computer right now. You can try removing it manually using the instructions provided below. However, if you see that MyWebFace reappears even if you have uninstalled it, then download a free scanner to check for other infections in your system, because it is very likely that you are infected with malware.

Invest in a reliable antimalware program that will protect you from serious computer threats. Also, make sure that MyWebFace is deleted from your computer thoroughly; otherwise you will need to deal with this intrusive browser plugin again.
