Safe Monitor

Safe Monitor is a browser add-on which is compatible with Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. It is promoted on its official website safemonitorapp.com, and needless to say, it is available alongside various free applications on file sharing websites. It is also classified as an adware application as it monitors the user’s actions online and generates pop-up advertisements.

According to the description of the application, Safe Monitor enables the user to find out whether someone is tracking him/her; moreover, Safe Monitor is said to reveal surprising information about the websites you visit.

Note that Safe Monitor may provide you with some additional options. When running the installer, you may be offered to install another browser add-on or toolbar.  However, in the present case, we have not been provided with any option regarding the installation of an additional program.  The only thing that has been installed is Safe Monitor, published by Western Web Applications, LLC.

As regards monitoring and spying, Safe Monitor displays a warning in the upper left corner of the browser if there is any service that is monitoring your actions. For example, while browsing amazon.com, we received a pop-up warning saying that the browsing session was being monitored by Doubleclick. If there is more than one service spying on you, you can click “View History” on the pop-up window and see all the information related to the spying.

The pop-up notifications can be displayed on various websites, including eBay, Amazon, Walmart, and many others. And the range of the services that monitor you can be very wide. For example, on the Walmart’s online shop we were monitored by Google Adsense, Omniture and RichRelevance.

If you are not interested in features of Safe Monitor and want to remove it from the PC, do it right now. Windows Vista and Windows 7

1. Open the Start menu.
2. Click Control Panel.
3. Select Uninstall a program and remove Safe Monitor.

Windows XP

1. Open the Start menu and click Control Panel.
2. Select Add or Remove programs.
3. Click Safe Monitor and click the Remove button.

Windows 8

1. Hover the mouse over the lower left corner of screen.
2. Right-click.
3. Select Control Panel - > Uninstall a program.
4. Remove Safe Monitor.
