How to restore your hosts file

  1. Open My Computer and Local Disk (C:).
  2. Open Windows folder and go to System32.
  3. Double-click drivers and open etc folder.
  4. Use Notepad to open hosts file.
  5. For Windows XP there should be only one line at the end of the text: localhost. For Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8, look for two lines: localhost and ::1 localhost.
  6. If there are any additional lines below the ones described above, delete them and save changes.

    I attempted the steps listed above and there were no additional lines below the two listed. Appround still is on my computer. Any other suggestions? Thank you.

    Check your browsers shortcut properties. Some infections add their website URL in order to trick the browser loading the webpage.
