Internet Crime Complaint Center Virus

Internet Crime Complaint Center Virus is a ransomware virus which disables the system’s settings so that there is no access to when the PC is booted up. The reasons why the PC is locked down are presented in a misleading full-screen message. As this threat is one of a great number of fraudulent ransomware infections presented as supposedly sent by a law enforcement agency, you should not trust Internet Crime Complaint Center Virus and remove it instead.

According to the Internet Crime Complaint Center message, the owner or user of the computer has broken the Copyright and Related Rights Law that prohibits the use of copyrighted content. Therefore, you are obliged to pay a fine of $500 imposed by the Department of Federal Bureau of Investigation:

You have been violating Copyright and Related Rights Law (Video, Music, Software) and illegally using or distributing copyrighted content

Such and similar accusations are present in other ransomware viruses such as Guardia Di Finanza virus, Poliisi virus and others. Typically, the money is required to be paid through Paysafecard or Ukash. As the latter is the most common in such infections, researches call these threats Ukash viruses.

However, in the case of Internet Crime Complaint Center Virus, cyber criminals have chosen MoneyPak. Do not pay that considerable sum of money, because after paying the money, you might not get the system’s settings restored. Instead, remove Internet Crime Complaint Center Virus from the system as soon as you can so that the infection does not have a chance to download new malware or corrupt the system even more.
