Trojan.Ransomlock!gen4 is yet another version of Trojan.Ransomlock that denies access to the desktop and holds the system hostage, urging the user to pay money for unblocking the Windows. The size of the infection is 109.568 bytes and it can affect Windows 98, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Me and other operating systems. This Trojan is also known as Trojan:W32/Agent.AF, and it seems to have originated in Russia, because once activated Trojan.Ransomlock!gen4 displays the ransom message in Russian:
попытка переустановить систему может привести к потере важной информации и нарушениям компьютера.
Windows is blocked
Any attempt to reinstall the system might lead to the loos of important information and computer damage
With this message displayed and your desktop locked you cannot use your computer anymore. But the truth is that even if you send the message to the given number, Trojan.Ransomlock!gen4 will not unlock your computer. You will only lose your money. The disturbing fact about Trojan.Ransomlock!gen4 is that this ransom message sometimes penetrates to the Safe Mode level as well.
If it is impossible to load Safe Mode with Networking (restart you computer and press F8 to choose from the Mode menu) download a computer safeguard application that would remove Trojan.Ransomlock!gen4, contact a computer software specialist, and don't try erasing Trojan.Ransomlock!gen4 on your own, because it might lead to serious system errors.
