Trojan.Comrerop

Trojan.Comrerop is a malicious computer program that is extremely cunning, because it hijacks and mimics legitimate Windows processes, making it hard to distinguish between the original and the fake process files. This Trojan is of a rather generic type which implies that there are a list of files that can be detected as Trojan.Comrerop and their symptoms and behavior can vary.

The processes that are related to Trojan.Comrerop are msnmsgr.exe, svchost.exe, rexxdisc.exe, winlogon.exe and many more (the full list is provided below the description). Finding these processes is the first proof of the Trojan.Comrerop infection. However, do not be so hasty to terminate a remove all of the processes. First make sure that they are really malicious. The problem is that msnmsgr.exe is the main executable file for the MSN Messenger program, while svchost.exe is an integral part of Windows and it runs in the system background all of the time. At the same time winlogon.exe is a part of the Windows Login system and it is necessary for the user authorization. Trojan.Comrerop makes use of these processes in order to conceal its presence and remain in your computer for a longer period of time. However, if these processes are legitimate all of them will be located at the C:\Windows\System32 folder. If the processes that are running in your Task Manager are located somewhere else, then congratulations – you have Trojan.Comrerop.

This Trojan initially resists interrogation by security products and runs automatically whenever you start your Windows, because it adds keys into the registry during the installation. Trojan.Comrerop can also modify firewall settings to bypass security systems in order to connect to remote websites and download additional malware. Not to mention that Trojan.Comrerop can also collect sensitive information from your computer by the means of keylogging and send it away to a remote command center.

It is obvious that no good can come of this infection. If you are infected with Trojan.Comrerop, you can easily become a subject to even more serious infections by other Trojans and even rogues (rogue infections are particularly dangerous, because you can lose your money). Therefore, you need to remove Trojan.Comrerop from your computer using a reliable security program, that will terminate the Trojan and delete all of its components in no time.
