Trojan.Smkudo.A

Trojans are nasty computer programs that appear to be absolutely harmless and sometimes even useful, but in truth they are the worst Pandora’s Box that you could ever open. Trojan.Smkudo.A is yet another Trojan barging into your system. You can never know when this parasite enters your computer, because it installs itself without your knowledge or consent. Worse, it does not have an interface, so you cannot really know whether you have Trojan.Smkudo.A or not. The only symptoms of the infection might be slow computer and the inability to operate certain programs the way you are used to.

However, if you sense that there is something wrong with your machine, be sure to check whether you are infected with Trojan.Smkudo.A or not. When this Trojan installs itself, it drops a copy of a file called smss.exe in the following directory: C:\Documents and settings\administrator\application data\smss.exe. Normally this file belongs to the session manager subsystem process and it is responsible for starting the user’s session. This shows that Trojan.Smkudo.A duplicates the legitimate process in order to hide its presence from security products. It obviously wants to stay in your system for as long as possible. The original smss.exe file is located in C:\Windows\System32, so just by the location of the file you can determine whether it is malicious or not, and if the smss.exe running in your Windows Task Manager is located somewhere else, then you definitely have Trojan.Smkudo.A in your system.

When this Trojan is installed, it connects to a remote host at kkosokoko.ru, and then it can perform a series of malicious activities. First of all, it reports to the host that yet another computer has been infected, and then waits for a command on what to do next with it. Then Trojan.Smkudo.A will download and execute other malware files, so it means that if you are infected with this parasite, you are most likely to have other malware barging in on your doorstep anytime soon. What is more, this Trojan can also record sensitive information (such as banking passwords and logins) and then send it to a third party. Therefore, if you want to avoid such consequences, be sure to remove Trojan.Smkudo.A with a reliable antivirus tool. Terminating Trojan.Smkudo.A automatically will save you the trouble of finding all the files related to the malware and deleting them on your own.
