Searchdwebs

Searchwebs is a fake search engine that looks like a legitimate one. It can be classified as a browser hijacker although it does not change your default home page. What it does hijack, however, is your new tab. If you are infected with this potentially dangerous application, each time you open a tab on your browser, a new Searchwebs page will be opened and you will be urged to use the search engine. Although this application is not an extremely dangerous infection per se, it is necessary that you remove Searchwebs at once, because the hijacker could be responsible for luring other malware onto your PC.

This infection could have entered your PC together with freeware applications that you downloaded on a third party website. If you are downloading a program, make sure that it is not bundled with additional applications. For all its worth, you could end up with Searchwebs on your PC, and then all of your new tabs would redirect you to websearch.searchdwebs.info.

At first glance it may look like a decent search engine website. However, you will soon notice that it displays commercial advertisements. Quite often, such search engines do not review the ads they display which means that almost anyone can embed commercial ads into the homepage. Also, after having checked the Privacy Policy at websearch.searchdwebs.info, it says that the tab is added after the user installs a particular plugin (Searchwebs is described as a part of a plugin service). It allows one to conclude that user’s intervention is a crucial part in the Searchwebs installation.

The reason why you have to remove Searchwebs is possible malware infection. It is very common for malware distributors to make use of such browser hijacker to infect target computers. Therefore, use a reliable antimalware tool to terminate Searchwebs and then restore your browser settings.
