EZbrowsing Search

It was decided EZbrowsing Search should fall under the classification of potentially unknown programs or PUPs in short. This specific category does not suggest the application could be harmful, although it should signal it is not entirely reliable either. This is why if you have encountered this plugin, it would be advisable to continue reading the article and find out more about its working manner. Later In the text, we will also talk about the extension’s possible distribution channels since it might be useful for anyone of you who would like to avoid such PUP the next time. At the end of the article users will find deletion instructions too; hopefully, they will help you get rid of EZbrowsing Search manually if you decide it is time to remove it. Users who have more questions about this plugin or require more help with its removal could leave a comment below as well.

According to EZbrowsing Search description, the application can help you “get more from your browser” and allow you to “easily search the web.” However, while researching it, we did not notice any enhanced tools that would make it worth leaving this PUP installed and risking the computer’s safety. The search engine it presents has categories that may make it easier to find specific content on the Internet. On the other hand, if you use, let us say, google.com, and instead of picking a category just type your keyword and the categories name, you should find the particular content you might be looking for just the same.

Thus, it seems to us not only the plugin’s reliability, but its usefulness is quite doubtful too. Moreover, the description continues to praise the PUP by saying with it the user can find what he is looking for with no extra effort. As we just explained if you merely write right keywords describing what you are looking for you should never need any effort to find it unless it is something there is not much information about on the Internet. In which case, we doubt the EZbrowsing Search promoted search engine would be of any use either. At this point it is essential to mention one other thing: while testing the extension’s search engine, our researchers learned it could be showing modified search.yahoo.com results that might be gathered after redirecting the user to media.eanswers.com.

Modified results could mean extra advertising content among them. Apparently, after reading the PUP’s Privacy Policy and End User License Agreement documents our researchers learned the plugin might gather user’s information for “delivering targeted content and advertisements that could be of interest.” Such content may come from the software’s third-party partners and sadly, EZbrowsing Search claim they “will not be responsible for actions that occurred at sites belonging to third parties.” In other words, they take no responsibility for the third-party advertisements, which might be displayed by the application, even if they appear to be promoting unreliable or malicious programs, scam web pages, and so on. Because of this, we do not think it would be wise to use such a search engine, especially when you could get a more trustworthy one, e.g., search.yahoo.com, google.com, etc.

One other thing we would like to discuss is the PUP’s possible distribution channels. It looks like EZbrowsing Search could be traveling with unreliable pop-up advertisements suggest it or other suspicious tools. It seems the plugin might be bundled with other doubtful extensions. Therefore, if you do not even realize how it got in, the chances are, you installed it accidentally by merely downloading another potential threat. Another reason for overlooking it could be not enough attention to the terms on the configuration wizard since there are cases when the user is allowed to deselect bundled software if he wants to. The next time, it would be advisable to pay more attention to the web pages you choose for downloading new programs, to the reliability of the selected applications themselves, and to the information on the configuration wizard.

Lastly, we should explain how to delete EZbrowsing Search if you do not want to have it anymore. The PUP works only on Google Chrome, and so the instructions located below this article will show how to access specific mentioned browser’s directories and remove all data associated with this plugin manually. Another way to get rid of it is to download a reliable antimalware tool, scan the system, and then users could erase it along with other possible threats with a single mouse click.
