Danger level 3
Type: Potentially Unwanted Application

Feed.incognitosearches.com

Feed.incognitosearches.com is a suspicious redirector that reroutes searches from Incognito Searches to Yahoo Search. Unfortunately, the act of redirecting is quite inconspicuous, and some users might not understand it fully. According to our research, you are most likely to face this redirector if you download an extension called Incognito Searches. It is identified as a potentially unwanted program, and it is very similar to another PUP, EmojiSearch. At the time of research, this extension was offered only for Google Chrome users, who could download it from install.incognitosearches.com/?pid=11111 or the Chrome web store at chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/incognito-searches/imkklhlanknlpppcoijagicbnckomhkp. It is also possible that this suspicious extension is spread using unreliable channels bundled with other threats that must be deleted. Hopefully, that is not the case, and you only need to worry about the removal of Feed.incognitosearches.com-related PUP. To figure out whether or not you need to think about other threats, install a legitimate malware scanner that will examine your operating system and let you know if there is anything else worth your attention. At the end of it, you must erase all found threats.

When Incognito Searches is installed onto the browser, it adds a button on the browser. If you click it, a window with a search field appears. If you type a keyword into the “Search the web in incognito mode” field, the results are shown via Yahoo Search in the incognito mode window. If you enter keywords into the address bar of the browser, you are also redirected to Yahoo Search (search.yahoo.com), but in normal mode. That is because the potentially unwanted program takes over the default search provider. Even if you do not realize that redirecting via Feed.incognitosearches.com occurs, and if you believe that the search results shown via search.yahoo.com are reliable, you might realize just how useless the PUP is. If you open your Google Chrome browser and tap keys Ctrl+Shift+N at the same time, the incognito mode window shows up, and that is because it is a feature that is already integrated into your browser. Incognito Searches is useless because it offers you what you already have, and that is a good enough reason to delete it from your browser immediately. Unfortunately, there is a more important reason why you must remove the PUP and why you cannot trust Feed.incognitosearches.com.

As you now know, Feed.incognitosearches.com redirects to Yahoo Search. If this search tool is set as your default search provider, you might not notice redirecting at all. Unfortunately, when the PUP reroutes you using this redirector, there is a possibility that it could modify the search results that are shown to you. Even if you are not exposed to sponsored content or misleading scam links, the creator of the suspicious redirector could use tracking technologies to spy on you and record what keywords you type in, which links you click, and other kinds of data. Needless to say, since Incognito Searches is a completely useless extension that does not offer anything beneficial, you should not waste your time with a redirector that works in a strange manner as well. If you enjoy Yahoo Search, set it up as your default search provider, but do not use third-party search tools to access it. If you enjoy the perks of incognito mode, go ahead and use the tool already offered by Google Chrome and delete Incognito Search.

It should not be difficult to delete Feed.incognitosearches.com-related PUP, Incognito Searches. This unwanted extension is just that, an extension, and so you should be able to eliminate it in a normal manner. If you are not familiar with the process, check out the guide below. Once you get rid of the unwanted software, you need to scan your operating system one more time to check if it is gone and if you need to take care of any other threats or potentially unwanted programs.
