Search.htextfrompc.co

Search.htextfrompc.co is not a normal search engine, and so you should not treat it like one. If offered, you should refuse its installation. If the suspicious tool is already installed, the recommendation of our research team is to delete it immediately. Is it clear to you why we classify this tool as a browser hijacker and why we recommend eliminating it? If it is not, you need to continue reading this report. If you believe you do not need to learn anything more about this threat, you might be interested in the guides below. All in all, we recommend reading this report before you remove Search.htextfrompc.co because you will learn about other threats that might be involved as well.

There is no doubt that Search.htextfrompc.co was created by Polarity Technologies Ltd. The name of this company is represented via the Privacy Policy supporting this hijacker. This company is also linked to Search.hinstantnewsnow.co, Search.searchytds.com, Search.hfreeforms.co, and many other browser hijackers that we do not recommend trusting. They are usually spread along with an extension (for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox) and an application (for Internet Explorer) called “Text From PC.” The only purpose of this tool is to introduce users to the hijacker. The extension/application can be spread by malicious installer, and, in this case, users are likely to find Search.htextfrompc.co running along with various other threats that also require removal.

The extension promoting Search.htextfrompc.co is also introduced to users via the Chrome web store at chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/text-from-pc/mmjdheichphpheocnakjmbnoenibfief. The source of the installer, allegedly, is textfrompc.co, but this page does not offer anything, including relevant information. According to the information represented via the Chrome web store, “Text From PC” can help you access “favorite browser texting sites.” When you install the extension, it installs the hijacker, which displays easy-access links to such sites as skype.com, hangouts.google.com, pushbullet.com, and mightytext.net. While all of them are legitimate, it is unlikely that that makes Search.htextfrompc.co beneficial. Besides a few easy-access links, this hijacker also promotes a search field, which might give you hope that the tool can help you surf the web. That is not the case.

You will not find original search results if you use Search.htextfrompc.co. Instead, you will find yourself redirected to Yahoo Search. Unfortunately, the results can be modified, which makes a search engine that is normally reliable quite unpredictable. Sure, search.yahoo.com showcases legitimate search results, but the hijacker can include sponsored content, and it is questionable whether or not Polarity Technologies Ltd can be trusted when it comes to that. This company is likely to promote any third-party link as long as it could earn money for it, and that is why it is questionable if these links can be trusted. After all, malicious parties often use suspicious advertising platforms to spread scams and malware.

It is necessary to inspect the operating system to check which infections are active on the operating system because, unfortunately, it is likely that Search.htextfrompc.co exists along with other threats. Use a trusty malware scanner to figure out if that is the case. Hopefully, extremely malicious, critical infections do not exist, and you can focus solely on the browser hijacker. If malware is found, you might be able to find individual removal guides on our website using the search field at the top. If guides do not exist, add a comment below requesting them, or employ anti-malware software to have all infections eliminated automatically.

You need to delete “Text from PC” if it is installed because that might be the only way for you to get rid of the hijacker. Firefox users can eliminate the extension from the about:addons menu, Chrome users from the chrome://extensions/ menu, and Internet Explorer users via the Control Panel. If that does not work – for example, if the extension is not installed at all – you might successfully remove Search.htextfrompc.co using the instructions below. They show how to change the URL of the homepage via the files of your browser. If this process appears to be too complicated for you, you might be able to change the homepage directly from the browsers.
