Fileplus

Fileplus is a suspicious, potentially unwanted program (PUP) that was recently brought to the attention of our research team. At the moment, an official installer representing this program does not exist, and so it is most likely that it is spread by third-party software distributors. Unfortunately, they could be malicious, and the PUP could come bundled with other unreliable or even malicious programs. Of course, if that is the case, you MUST inspect your operating system to identify every single threat that requires elimination. You might even find that you need to delete more clandestine and dangerous threats before you get to the PUP. Should you remove Fileplus? That is something you have to decide for yourself, and we recommend reading this report to learn more about this suspicious piece of software. Our research team strongly advises getting rid of it as soon as possible, but you might come to a different conclusion after you are done reading this report. If you have questions afterward, the comments section is open for discussion.

If you go to fileplus.org, you are informed that the potentially unwanted program can help you download games, movies, music files, and software for free. At the time of research, every link was routing to a page stating: “An internal server error occurred.” It is possible that the server is down permanently, and Fileplus will not work in the future. On the other hand, the server could go back up again, and the file-sharing service might become available again. Should you download pirated files and software? Of course, you should not, because that is illegal and dangerous. Note that every single file you download could be bundled with a malicious threat attached to it. All in all, although the website is not working properly, you can find a link to the Privacy Policy at the bottom. Fileplus.org/privacy_policy.pdf presents interesting information regarding the activity of the PUP. For example, the statement reveals that the program is “supported by advertising,” and that banners, text links, interstitial, and full page advertisements could be shown to you whenever you are using the service. This is one of the most important reasons to consider the removal of the PUP because the ads could be misleading and dangerous.

Another thing that the Privacy Policy of Fileplus reveals is that this potentially unwanted program can record personal information. Also, this information can be shared with “parent, subsidiary or affiliate companies,” as well as “non-affiliated” parties. Neither affiliated nor non-affiliated companies are represented via the Privacy Policy, and so we cannot guarantee that they are trustworthy. If these parties turn out to be malicious, your virtual security could be jeopardized without your notice at all. Do you think that the services offered by Fileplus are worth it? If you do not, there is only one thing you should focus on, and that is the removal of this potentially unwanted program. Before you get rid of this PUP, install a trusted malware scanner to inspect your operating system. In case more aggressive and dangerous threats are found, eliminate them first. Hopefully, that is not something you have to deal with, and the potentially unwanted program is the only suspicious piece of software found on your operating system.

You cannot uninstall Fileplus from your operating system, and that is a red flag. Clearly, the creator of this PUP has made sure that you have trouble eliminating it. Of course, you can remove this PUP from your Windows operating system, and you can even do that manually. If you wish to delete Fileplus yourself, you can check out the instructions below. Afterward, scan your operating system one more time. If any leftovers or other threats remain active, you will be informed about that. Needless to say, you need to clean your operating system from all infections before you start using it again. We also advise employing reliable anti-malware software to ensure that you do not need to worry about other potentially unwanted programs or malware in the future. If you are going to install this software, you do not need to spend any time eliminating undesirable threats and programs manually because they will be eliminated automatically.
