Trojan.Adclicker is a generic class of Trojan Horses that is specifically designed to generate “traffic” to certain Web sites. The traffic generated is artificial! Trojan.Adclicker will send HTTP requests to simulate clicks on banner advertisements, as well as to inflate Web counter statistics. Systems affected by this Trojan application include: Windows 2000, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, and Windows XP. As with all Trojan applications, Trojan.Adclicker installed under deceptive pretences, infiltrating the user’s PC without their approval or knowledge. The fact that Trojan.Adclicker can easily enter any PC system via security exploits and flaws, most times without the user’s interaction, means that it is that much easier for Trojan.Adclicker to enter the system and ensure the system’s security is immensely compromised.
