Screenlocker Cuzimvirus

Screenlocker Cuzimvirus is an underdeveloped ransomware infection that may look like an extremely dangerous security threat. However, the program does not deliver, and it seems that someone has created it for fun. Since the program does not have all the required features of a ransomware infection, it should not be hard to remove it. You can find the manual removal instructions at the bottom of this description. If you encounter any difficulty as you try to delete this infection, you can always leave us a comment. Also, it is always a good idea to invest in a legitimate antispyware application.

Although the application is not extremely dangerous, you would still do yourself a favor if you do everything to avoid this infection. Our security research suggests that Screenlocker Cuzimvirus spreads through spam email messages. The newest spam email campaigns are sophisticated enough to get through your email provider’s filter and land in your main inbox. Of course, the best way to avoid this infection is to delete spam email messages that carry it immediately. However, sometimes the spam email messages look like actual notifications from your financial institution or some online store. And if you are not careful about it, you may end up opening the attachment and letting the infection out.

Once the infection takes place, you will definitely notice that something unpleasant entered your computer. Screenlocker Cuzimvirus will display a notification on your screen that will tell you your “computer is blocked.” At first, it will look as though this notification covers your entire screen and the program has locked your desktop, but that is only an illusion. Albeit the warning box cannot be closed, you can minimize it and look for ways to make it disappear. At first, it might be hard to do anything because the message looks scary, but there is no need to follow the criminal orders.

Let us take a closer look at the notification and see what Screenlocker Cuzimvirus wants of you. As mentioned, the program says that your computer is blocked and you have to “follow the 3 easy steps” to unlock it:

Send me a message to this email: cuzimvirus@yahoode and I send you the code

When you written me I send you the code. Then paste the code in the textbox and press “unlock”

Then press okay and your computer is unlocked

It does not seem like the infection would expect you to pay a ransom fee or anything like that. However, there is no need to contact these criminals, too. Normally, a ransomware infection encrypts user’s files and then demands that the user paid for the decryption. Screenlocker Cuzimvirus, on the other hand, does not have the capability of doing so. This program is more annoying than dangerous, and once it drops its payload, it does not even touch your files.

Therefore, when you encounter this infection, you have to focus entirely on its removal. It might be a little tricky because it is not clear where the program drops its files. The random-name .exe file could be dropped on your desktop, in the %TEMP% directory or the Downloads folder. So you need to look for this suspicious file all three locations if you want to delete everything associated with this infection. On the other hand, this could be too tedious, so you can leave to a licensed security tool. Please get yourself a powerful security application that will be able to terminate Screenlocker Cuzimvirus for you automatically.

We would like to point out that this is not just about this one malicious program. There is a good chance that there are more unwanted programs on-board, and you need to make sure that you delete them all. You see, malware infections and other unwanted applications often get distributed in packs, so after you remove Screenlocker Cuzimvirus, you will do well to scan your PC looking for other threats.

Once your computer is safe and clean, you should take all the measures to ensure similar programs do not trespass into your territory again. It is not just about investing in a security application; it is also about employing safe web browsing habits that would keep you away from unreliable and potentially dangerous websites. If you need any advice on how to do that, please do not hesitate to leave us a comment.
