Backdoor.Small.gtl is a backdoor Trojan that provides an unauthorized user with some remote control over your system, making it possible to capture your personal information through accessing your files. This Trojan mimics Windows firewall notifications and asks if the user would like to enable protection. Once the user has clicked on the button: “Enable Protection”, this will actually ensure the Trojan is installed, along with Backdoor.Small.gtl. Once Backdoor.Small.gtl infiltrates a computer, it begins offering the user the paid version of the software. Backdoor.Small.gtl might appear to be legitimate anti-spyware, but it is in fact absolutely non-functional. Backdoor.Small.gtl tends to imitate system scans and will report large numbers of infections found on the system. One should bear in mind that every message generated by Backdoor.Small.gtl can be ignored as they are all completely falsified. Not only is Backdoor.Small.gtl completely useless as antispyware, but it is also rather malicious. Backdoor.Small.gtl will slow down a system’s performance and tends to limit internet connection. Backdoor.Small.gtl displays many pop-up messages that make using a computer an impossible task. Backdoor.Small.gtl is also capable of hijacking web browsers and redirecting it to dubious websites.
