Searchjourney.net

Searchjourney.net happens to be a browser hijacker that manages to change your default search engine. This program is compatible with Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, but even if you do not use either of the two browsers, it can still get installed on your computer.

Browser hijackers are annoying and potentially harmful programs that are often exploited by cyber criminals to distribute and promote malicious content. If you do not remove this program from your PC, there is a good chance that soon enough you will have to deal with malware and other serious infections. To figure out just how infected your computer is, scan it with the SpyHunter free scanner.

As you can probably tell, the official homepage for this browser hijacker can be reached via searchjourney.net. If you open it, you can find a rather empty page with an eye-catching photo that says you can “Make search exciting again!” Supposedly, with this program, you can enjoy your web search experience because it “with many scenic backgrounds, its like taking a virtual journey while you search, all without even packing your bags!” Well, that definitely sounds nice, but if you really have scenic photos in the background while you do your search, it means that it takes more memory from your system because suddenly your browser becomes a lot busier, trying to support the graphics. So the question is whether his Search Journey is really necessary if you want to keep your searches fast and functional.

What’s more, some versions of the program have the uninstall option via Control Panel, but the option does not restore browsers to their previous states. It merely removes the program’s folders, which you can also do yourself. We will tell you which folders need to be removed if you scroll down to the bottom of this description.

When you get infected with this browser hijacker, your default search engine and the new tab are set to nt.searchjourney.net. Some users may think that this is a reliable search engine, but that is very far from the truth. The program does not even provide you with original search service. To deliver the search results, Searchjourney.net employs a custom version of the Yahoo! Search engine. Naturally, Yahoo! Search has nothing to do with this browser hijacker, and the program simply makes use of the popular engine to make itself look presentable. You should not fall for this trick.

As far as the associations are concerned, our research team says that Searchjourney.net is a member of the SuperWeb family. This group is notorious for its adware programs, but now it seems that it releases browser hijackers, too. Especially as this program is not the first in line. We have dealt with the Nt.tidesearch.net hijacker quite recently. From that, we can assume that we will see more similar infections soon, so you need to be prepared.

The best way to avoid installing such applications is to stay away from freeware distribution sources. Just because this program has an official website, it does not mean most of the users download the program directly. It is far more likely that Searchjourney.net comes in software packages from file-sharing websites. Therefore, if you must download some application, be sure to do it from its official homepage. And even so, do not forget to stay alert: check out all the installation steps to avoid potentially unwanted programs. You do not have to read every single document presented to you. Additional programs will definitely have either their own steps or separate lines that are easy to notice as long as you do not breeze through the installation without giving it a second glance.

To remove Searchjourney.net, delete the extensions from your browser, and then remove the folders associated with it from your computer. As mentioned, Searchjourney.net usually comes in software packages, so you should not forget other programs that might have arrived with it, too.

Employ a legitimate antispyware tool to check out the current system status, and if you detect any potential threats, do not hesitate to delete them at once. We would like to remind you that relying on a computer security program provides you with the most efficient way to deal with similar issues.
