Uninstall Master

Uninstall Master is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) that might settle in your system with a browser hijacker Mystart.uninstallmaster.com. Although the program claims to be a powerful uninstall tool that is completely free of charge and easy to use, it indulges in some particular activities that look suspicious. For example, the application gathers particular information about you, and it might display advertising too. It seems that the program cannot be trusted entirely, so if you do not want to have it on your system anymore, you could erase it with the manual deletion instructions provided below the text. Also, if you want to get rid of Mystart.uninstallmaster.com too, you could either find the manual removal instructions for this hijacker or download an antimalware tool and erase both applications at once.

Mainly, the program could be downloaded from the official website (uninstallmaster.com), or it might come bundled with other applications. For example, if you download software from questionable file-sharing sites, it is possible that Uninstall Master comes bundled with freeware. When you install programs, make sure to check if there are no other suggestions on the setup wizard because if you overlook these steps, you might end up with various unfamiliar applications. Most of the users allow browser hijackers, PUPs, adware, and other threats to enter their system as they do not pay much attention while installing software.

When the PUP is installed, it launches itself in a separate window. Although the program looks different from the Control Panel’s Programs and Features tool, it displays very similar information. Uninstall Master shows a list of applications that are installed on your computer, the space they use, and the date they were installed. Of course, if you clicked the program it shows the “Uninstall” option that seems to be working normally. The Control Panel tool not only offers a little bit more information on each program that you have, but also it is a trustworthy application that is used by lots of users around the world. Therefore, we would advise you to use the tool that is already available on your Windows and consider deleting Uninstall Master as the program is rather suspicious.

Our researchers noticed that the program could install a browser hijacker called Mystart.uninstallmaster.com without user’s permission. The application affects only the Google Chrome users at the moment, but you should be aware that its creators could make it available for other browsers too. The browser hijacker changes your homepage, and it might gather your private information. The interesting part is that even though Uninstall Master and Mystart.uninstallmaster.com have different purposes and features, the applications share the same Privacy Policy and End User License Agreement (EULA) documents. In the EULA, it is stated that “Uninstall Master may share aggregated demographic information about users with third party advertising and content companies.” If you do not want that the software’s creators shared such information about you with unidentified third-party companies, you should remove the application from your computer. These documents also claim that these programs might display third-party ads, but it is more likely that the ads could show up on your browser if you have Mystart.uninstallmaster.com as your search engine or homepage. It would be better to avoid the ads as they could redirect you to unreliable websites that belong to third-party partners.

As you realize, the application is not that unique or powerful as it might appear. The fact that it is classified as a PUP and its search engine as a browser hijacker proves that the software is not worth to be trusted. We hope that the article provided some new information about the software, and now you can decide if the program should be kept on your computer. If you choose to erase Uninstall Master from your system, you could do it either manually or automatically. You could take a look at the manual instructions available below and decide if you are experienced enough for this option, or you can download legitimate antimalware software and use it to delete the PUP automatically. The security tool would also take care of the hijacker if it were installed on your browser.
