ESpeedDownload

Espeedcheck.com promotes many different extensions that are meant to assist you in one way or another. ESpeedDownload is one of these extensions, and it is advertised as a tool that can help you access, manage, and control the downloaded files. If you download this program onto Google Chrome, you will be shown a slogan saying: Fast and Secure Download Manager. The information representing this program is meant to convince you that it is reliable and trustworthy; otherwise, you would not install it. Unfortunately, the official installer is not the only source, and this program could be spread by unreliable installers, in which case, it could be installed without your permission as well. All in all, regardless of the entrance method, we recommend removing ESpeedDownload, and you can learn all that you need to know about this strange extension in this report.

Our researchers have tested ESpeedDownload, and it was found that it is officially represented via the Chrome web store. Even if you download this program from espeedcheck.com, you will be redirected to chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/espeeddownload/afnjbmobicacmenkaoeflopokijejlma. The reviews on this page are pathetic; however, if you look at the number of users, it becomes clear that this program is very popular. According to our research, most of its users come from India (38%), followed by the United States, and Indonesia, which means it is spread all across the world. If you download this extension from the Chrome web store, you are asked to confirm your agreement to have your data on websites read and changed, and your downloads managed. Unfortunately, you are not informed about the new tab modifications that are performed without any warning. This PUP changes Chrome settings to ensure that New Tab is launched on startup, and New Tab represents the extension itself with the Searchalgo search provider.

Although Searchalgo redirects to Yahoo Search, you cannot trust it. According to our researchers, the results shown to you might be modified to assist the developer of ESpeedDownload. The results shown might include sponsored links, and, if you interact with them, a certain commission might be earned. Unfortunately, most users do not recognize the difference. Furthermore, the New Tab provides easy-access links to Gmail, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Wikipedia, and other popular websites, which is why it looks attractive. eSpeedMusic, eSpeedMovie, eSpeedCheck, and similar extensions can expose you to suspicious search tools, and they can modify your browsers as well. In fact, these extensions might even come bundled together. It is not difficult to identify ESpeedDownload because it has an original name and a Chrome ID, afnjbmobicacmenkaoeflopokijejlma. You can view this ID by moving to the chrome://extensions/ menu and checking the “Developer mode” box. This ID represents the folder that contains the files of the potentially unwanted program. This folder is located in these directories: %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions\ or %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions\.

If ESpeedDownload was introduced to you by malicious installers, the first thing you need to figure out is which other infections have been installed onto your computer. Malware could be installed anywhere, and it could have deceiving names, which is why we do not recommend examining your operating system by yourself. Save your energy and time by using a malware scanner that will instantaneously scan your PC and detect threats; if they have invaded your operating system. A free malware scanner is available to you right below, and you can acquire it by clicking a single button. Whichever tool you use, make sure you take care of all the threats detected.

We have prepared two removal options for you that will help you delete ESpeedDownload. The first option shows how to erase the unwanted browser extension and change the startup settings. The second option shows how to eliminate the extension from Windows. Once you are done with these steps, make sure you scan your operating system one more time to see if no files were left behind. This is particularly important if many other infections are active on your operating system. In fact, if other unreliable programs besides the PUP exist, we advise trusting an automated malware remover to erase them from your operating system. If you have installed the malware scanner promoted on this page, you can upgrade it to work as a malware remover as well.
