Ghokswa Browser

We are of the opinion that classifying Ghokswa Browser as a potentially unwanted program was entirely justified, because it is a clone of Google Chrome or rather tries to imitate it, so we suggest that you remove this deceptive browser as soon as the opportunity arises. Its developers have made this browser to look and act as if it was Chrome. The purpose for doing this is simple. Ghokswa Browser can inject commercial advertisements into almost every website you visit. However, we are not convinced that all of the ads are legit. So you ought to get rid of it, but there is a slight problem. Ghokswa Browser cannot be removed via Control Panel, so you either have to uninstall it manually or use an antimalware scanner that will do it for you.

We have yet to determine how Ghokswa Browser is distributed. It does have its dedicated website at Ghokswa.com, but this site redirects to Google.com/chrome. The reason for this is unknown. However, it is unlikely that this program will ever have a real dedicated download site due to how it operates. For the time being, we think that this browser is distributed via malicious software bundles that dump its files without asking for your permission. So please tell us how you got this browser in the comment section below.

It must be said that Ghokswa Browser is not your typical Chromium-based Google-look-alike. It operates in a very different way. During its installation, the installer creates a Ghokswa Browser folder in the Program Files folder. If you are using Chrome, then it will modify its target line, so that each time you click on Chrome’s shortcut the target line will open Ghokswa Browser. Visually the two browsers are indistinguishable. Now, you might be wondering why its developers would go to such great lengths? The answer is simple.

While conducting our research we found that Ghokswa Browser can inject commercial advertisements into almost every website. This browser has a dedicated server from which it gets all of its advertisements. The ads may appear as various coupons, banners on regular websites or as promotional links inside its search results. Note that it uses Google.com as its homepage just like the real Google Chrome would. Also, Ghokswa Browser can collect information about you. We think that it should gather information such as your IP address, browsing and search history, approximate current location, and so on. This information should be used for marketing and advertising purposes. Whatever the case may be, you should uninstall Ghokswa Browser because it is distributed using deceptive means and is set to modify Google Chrome silently to make you use this unreliable browser.

Since this program cannot be uninstalled via Control Panel, it is necessary to delete all of its files from the Program Files and fix Google Chrome’s Target line so that it could launch the appropriate executable. You can do all of this manually, but there is also the possibility of removing it using our recommended antimalware tool. Keeping this unreliable browser will only subject you to unasked-for false advertisements and promotions, so we suggest that you take action against it right away.
