Danger level 8
Type: Browser Hijackers
Common infection symptoms:
  • Hijacks homepage
  • Changes default search engine

You will not get too far if you try to search with because this search engine is totally useless. What’s more, it is most likely that this search engine appears in your browsers without your knowledge. Since may be set as your homepage and search engine arbitrarily, we have labeled it as a browser hijacker. You need to know that its presence may cause security issues; therefore, it is advisable to remove as soon as you can. However, this may not be the only threat you may have to face. It is quite possible that there are other malware infections on your computer as well. If you do not know about the potential risks, you may endanger your operating system. When it comes to malware, you cannot waste time hesitating; you need to act before it is too late and the infections expose you to unreliable third-party content, which may turn your system upside down before long.

We have found that this browser hijacker mostly spreads in free software bundles that may be packed with other malware programs. The Internet is full of questionable websites that host corrupted links that pose as download buttons. You may think that you are on a legitimate website where you can finally download, for example, your desired book in .pdf format for free, but when you click on the download button, link, or fake mirror links, you will find yourself on another suspicious website. You may not even realize that in the background a malicious installer downloads. But you may be misled other ways too. For example, you may want to download free software and after a web search you get redirected to a questionable freeware site where you may be tricked into clicking on fake buttons again. When you are on an unfamiliar website, it is very easy to click on the wrong button.

Therefore, it is important for us to emphasize that you should avoid contact with such websites. If you land on one accidentally, close the tab ASAP. But, if you want to make sure you have not infected your computer simply by visiting a questionable website, it is worth running a malware scanner. You can use a free online scanner for that. But make sure that you use a reliable one. It is also very important that you perform a web search before using or downloading a tool or an application. You can find out in a minute, for example, about, that you are dealing with an unreliable tool, which is, in fact, a malware infection that you should remove from your computer. This could save you the unnecessary headache.

As a matter of fact, we have found that this search engine does not even work. Even if you search for a simple keyword, such as “shopping,” it will display a “No results found” page and it will give you two options to “make it work,” namely, “Try different keywords” and “Try more general keywords.” We do not know how we could be more general than “shopping.” But it does not really matter since it seems that whatever keywords you try, you will end up with the same page. However, it is still possible that this hijacker starts displaying third-party ads and links, which you should never click on because you cannot trust anything that is related to this hijacker. It may happen that you get redirected to an infected website or a fake website run by criminals. If you do not want to figure out how this may harm your computer, you should delete right away.

The safest way to eliminate this threat source from your computer is to reset your major browsers. You could manually change the homepage settings and the search engine settings one by one, but there is a chance that some leftovers remain, which might regenerate the hijacker. The reset makes sure that nothing remains. If you are unfamiliar with the necessary steps, please follow our guide below. If you want to make sure that your computer is all clean, we recommend that you download and install an authentic antimalware program. You can also help your system by keeping all your programs and drivers updated. However, that will not substitute for a proper security tool.
