Danger level 7
Type: Browser Hijackers
Common infection symptoms:
  • Hijacks homepage
  • Changes default search engine is a browser hijacker that can redirect you to malicious websites, and that can eventually result in a severe malware infection. You will have to remove from your computer at once if you want to avoid dire malware infection consequences. The browser hijacker may not be the only malicious program on-board, so you will do yourself a favor if you run a full system scan with the SpyHunter free scanner to detect other potential threats. You have to understand that you are always being watched by third parties, and you need to be really careful about staying out of the radar when these third parties prove to be malevolent.

The point with search engines is that they always track your online activity in one way or the other, but not all of them sell your information to third parties. and other browser hijackers do that because they need to make money somehow. After all, that is the main reason this program has been developed. The problem is that in the process this hijacker could expose you to corrupted third-party content without even meaning to. Thus, you need to take your computer’s security into your own hands because if you do not do anything about, soon you will have no system left to protect.

It is possible to set as your default home page through the main website, but we do not believe that users do that willingly. As far as browser hijacker distribution methods are concerned, it is more common to see such programs spread around in software packages. This means that you most probably were aiming to have some other application, and you did not think that might enter your system as well. Therefore, when you download a program from file-sharing websites, it is important that you scan all the steps on the installation wizard carefully. Albeit browser hijackers often do not give you the chance to avoid installing them, you should still try your best to avoid such programs.

You obviously can choose not to run your searches via, but the point is that once this browser hijacker takes over your browser, you are already being monitored whether you like it or not. Thus, you will soon be exposed to corrupted third-party content that could potentially redirect you to malware-related websites. We are not trying to say that this browser hijacker infects you with malware on purpose, but it is too vulnerable for third-party exploitation to be ignored.

Unlike most of the adware and potentially unwanted programs, does not have an entry in the list of installed applications. With that, there is no way to remove the hijacker via Control Panel, but it should not stop you from trying to do so. You can delete from your browser by restoring the settings to default, and as far as the remaining hijacker files are concerned, you can get rid of them automatically.

For that, you should invest in a licensed antispyware tool that will help you determine what files and applications must be terminated from your system. At the same time, you will be able to ensure that no other unwanted application enters your computer again. Should you have any questions about this hijacker or your computer’s security, please leave us a comment.
