PConverter Toolbar

PConverter Toolbar will not convert your PC into a smart phone or anything else, as its name might suggest; however, instaed, it claims to convert files. Unfortunately, we have found that this is just a new bad toolbar from Mindspark Interactive Network, Inc., who is infamous for creating useless but potentially harmful tools. Having this toolbar in your browsers can also mean that you are surprised to see it as you do not remember actually installing it. It is quite possible, in that case, that there are other malware infections on your PC as well. You should not hesitate too long because these applications may introduce your system to more and more unreliable web content, which increases the vulnerability of your operating system. We believe that you should remove PConverter Toolbar if you want to restore your system’s security.

There is only a slight chance that you will find the official promotional web page at pconverter.com if you perform a web search for a file converter application. But let us assume that you did somehow land on this page. When you click on the download button, you will get the first signal that you are about to install a useless and unreliable application -- if you have a security program running, of course. If your computer is protected by such software, you are among the lucky ones who get warned about a potential danger that is trying to enter your PC. But, if you are on this page, you most probably have no such protection and you have already let this bad toolbar onto your machine.

Nevertheless, we must tell you that it is more likely that you have downloaded and installed a free program lately, which arrived in a software bundle. That bundle could have contained PConverter Toolbar and other malware infections as well. In this case, you are better off removing PConverter Toolbar and running a full system scan to identify all other threats. Leaving them on your system would cause more and more security issues.

Once this bad toolbar is installed, it sets a modified ask.com page as your new home page and default search engine. You will find the toolbar at the top with a search box and a few quick links mainly associated with file conversion and sharing the converted files. However, just like most Mindspark toolbars, this toolbar also uses third-party services to provide you with the promised features. If you know any Mindspark product, you also know that you can never fully trust its services since the company does not take responsibility for any third-party content, which might be unreliable or even dangerous for you.

On top of that, even the search results may be manipulated to include, for example, third-party sponsored links. If you click on such potentially unsafe links, you might land on malicious websites. That is a very risky thing, since you could be tricked into downloading more infections or revealing your banking details to criminals. We believe that you do not want any of these things, which is why we recommend that you delete PConverter Toolbar.

Because of the browser setting changes, it is not enough just to uninstall this toolbar through Control Panel; you also have to remove the browser extensions manually. If these steps are unfamiliar to you, please follow our instructions below. Remember to keep all your software and drivers updated because that could help you protect your PC from exposure to cyber criminals.
