Toppypop

The developers claim that Toppypop provides you with a much easier and more comfortable way to browse the web. However, nowhere does it say that this application displays ads, so you might want to remove it. This program’s promotional website is littered with hollow statements claiming that Toppypop will boost your browsing experience. But, in reality, it will only flood your computer’s screen with unasked-for advertisements that are of questionable legitimacy. Indeed, this seemingly innocent-looking program might promote websites that can get your computer infected with malicious software. Obviously, there is more to this application than meets the eye.

Most of the time, adware developers choose to stay in the shadows and do not digitally sign their software. However, in this case the company that developed and released Toppypop did so, and it is called Virtue Interactive Ltd. This developer has released a lot of adware in the past and will certainly continue to do so in the future. It must be said that this recently discovered application is either dead or has not been launched yet. We are of the opinion that it has not been launched yet, because many developers set up a promotional website first and release the program second. Based on our experience with Virtue Interactive’s adware, we think that it should be distributed using software bundling, because its website at Toppypop.net will not feature a download button. In any case, if this program is bundled and featured on freeware websites, then you should remove it from the installation wizard by opting out of those custom installation settings.

Typically of adware promoting websites, they do not explicitly state what their promoted application actually does. Vague and obscure statements, such as “Taking your browsing experience to the top!” and “Great for viewing long/infinite pages, refreshing and more without using your browser top navigation menu” mean nothing. However, our research has shown the adware's true colors. This program’s only purpose is to show commercial advertisements and make money for its developers. The ads come from various third-parties of questionable reliability, because its developers could not care less about what they promote or with whom they do business. Money is king in the online advertising business. At any rate, the application's Privacy Policy states that Toppypop is capable of delivering ads in the form of pop-ups, coupons, price comparisons, in-line texts, and other content recommendations. We must warn you that at least some of its advertisements may promote malicious content, such as malicious software bundles, fake Java and Adobe Flash updates that also contain unreliable software, and so on.

We do not know who the developers were trying to fool with their cheap and badly thought-out promotional campaign for this application, but it is clear that Toppypop will not perform any useful functions. Displaying advertisements is only beneficial for the developers and the advertisers who use their services. So if you do not want to be subjected to annoying and, above all, questionable advertisements, you should take action and remove Toppypop at your earliest convenience.
