HappySale

There are browser extensions that affect all browsers at the same time, and there are applications that are compatible with only one browser at a time. In this case, HappySale works only on the Google Chrome browser. The extension comes from a notorious group of adware programs, and we know that there is no reason for you to keep it on your PC. The sooner you remove HappySale from Google Chrome, the sooner you will be able to resume your regular web browsing activities. Adware programs are annoying and potentially dangerous, especially if we consider the fact that they could be exploited for malicious purposes.

While most computer users think that such programs like HappySale are dangerous computer viruses, that is not really true. Viruses are an entirely different category of computer infections. What’s more, users often do not realize that they download and install a lot of potentially unwanted programs on their computers willingly. For example, HappySale might be included in a freeware bundle you have recently downloaded from some file-sharing website. It is easy to miss this application, especially if you are too focused on the program you originally wanted to install on your PC. On top of that, there might have been several other unwanted programs that entered your system in a similar fashion.

Our security researchers say that HappySale comes from the Multiplug family of adware applications. It might also be called the semi-random name adware, although this application is slightly different from all the other adware programs in this group we have encountered previously. HappySale does not have an entry in the list of installed programs, so it cannot be removed through the Control Panel. What’s more, this application affects only one browser, while usually the Multiplug adware works on all the major browsers in the market.

It is important to note that HappySale should not be confused with happysale.com, which is a legitimate online market. These two entities have nothing in common apart from their name. What’s more, the HappySale browser extension will expose you to many other shopping websites that supposedly offer the goods you want. It is not surprising that the application can provide you with relevant offers: It monitors your browser history via tracking cookies and thus finds out a lot about your likes and preferences. This kind of practice is not something illegal, but when an application can be exploited by almost anyone, you can expect trouble to come your way any time.

Before this happens, remove HappySale from your browser and then scan your computer with a security application of your choice. You have to remember that there might be more unwanted applications installed, and you have to terminate all of them as well.
