MyTubeTheater

It appears that adware applications masquerading as media players are getting increasingly popular these days. MyTubeTheater is one such application that deserves to be removed on grounds of deceptive marketing techniques. The only thing this application can do is display commercial advertisements inside the browser, so if you did not get the media player that you were expecting, then you should remove this application as soon as the opportunity arises.

The developers did a good job at convincing thousands of users to download this seemingly legitimate media player. And they employ deceptive means when it comes to installing this program. Most novice users tend to leave loose ends when they install an application that does not work. The same is true in the case of MyTubeTheater. Many install it without even knowing it. A download of this application is featured on its promotional website at Mytubetheater.com. We did not see an installation window when we ran the installer, so it is possible that many people think that the installation just did not initiate.

However, it does actually install and it autostarts with Windows every time you boot up your PC. The program will display advertisements while you browse the web, obstructing the whole browsing experiences and likely causing some inconvenience. As far as we know, MyTubeTheater can display coupons, and pop-ups that feature third-party advertisements. There is no telling what might be actually advertised in these ads and where you might get redirected to, so this application is somewhat dangerous. The application’s EULA found on its website states that the developers will not be responsible or liable for loss of data and will not be liable for any damages if you experience any, so why should you trust such an application? Clearly there is something wrong with it, apart from the fact that it is not actually a media player.

MyTubeTheater is part of an adware family referred to in the industry as the CrossRider family. This particular program has been developed by an advertising company called CSDI, based in Paris, France. The program’s website also contains the company’s contact details found in the EULA, but we cannot validate the validity of those contacts. In any case, the application is promoted and distributed via its dedicated website at Mytubetheater.com. The website contains a standalone install. To our knowledge the application is not featured on any other website and it is not known to be bundled with other software.

So as you can see, MyTubeTheater is not the program it is advertised to be. It is definitely not a media player. It has been created with the intention to subject you to commercial content which is annoying and potentially unreliable. It is likely that you will be redirected to malicious websites if you decide to click an advertisement, so we encourage you not to. We do, however, encourage you to remove MyTubeTheater using the instructions located below.
