SearchSafe

SearchSafe claims to be an “enhanced online search experience used by people worldwide”. It claims that it collaborates with search providers in order to help you find what you are looking for faster and easier. Even though it claims to be very good software, researchers working at pcthreat.com have found out that it is a simple search engine. In most cases, it replaces homepages and search engines without permission, which is why researchers tend to call SearchSafe as a browser hijacker. There is a possibility that you will find a toolbar added at the top of your Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox browsers as well. You should definitely not keep any of them because they do not seem trustworthy. In fact, you might infect your system with malicious software if you do that.

In most cases users notice that the SearchSafe search engine (searchsafe.com) has been set after the installation of SearchSafe software, which claims to be a “free desktop application that saves your preferred homepage and default search settings”. In fact, it is not surprising at all because it informs users that it “may also automatically configure third-party software (such as your Brower or operating system)”. If you already see the presence of SearchSafe search provider, you should definitely not use it for searching the information even if it provides the multi-search service (allows users to search for news, images, videos, maps, and even do shopping). It is not advisable to keep this search engine because it will definitely provide you with the modified search results. According to our specialists, there is basically no doubt that it will provide sponsored links. They will be placed at the top of all the search results in order to trick users into clicking on them. Unfortunately, this might be really harmful because these results provided by SearchSafe search engine might take you to various untrustworthy websites. As can be seen, searchsafe.com is not the search engine that can be trusted completely.

SearchSafe might come bundled with free software. Thus, do not be surprised if you notice that the search engine and homepage have been changed after you install some kind of free application from a third-party website.
