Browser Protect

Browser Protect is an adware program that has been cleverly branded as a useful browsing guard that will supposedly protect your computer while you surf the web. However, nothing could be farther from the truth. Or analysts recommend that you remove this infection from your computer, because it will not protect you from online threats, since it is a threat itself. In reality, the application is designed to do only one thing, and that is to show unreliable commercial advertisements and generate revenue for the program’s developers.

Browser Protect can be downloaded from its website at Browser-protector.com, but we do not encourage you to go to the website and get it. We only want to raise awareness about this infection and its means of distribution. The application is compatible with all three major web browsers, namely Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer. Upon infection, the program is installed on the computer as an application and on the browser as an extension.

As mentioned, the program displays commercial advertisements that are supplied by various third-parties in need of cheap advertising services. It must be said that advertisements promoted via adware such as Browser Protect are misleading and quite often fake. In this case, Browser Protect is one such program that could display fake advertisements. We argue that users should remove this infection because it might display ads that could redirect you to infected websites, which in turn will infect your PC with malware. But you could get infected with not just any old semi-working adware; we are talking about ransomware, spyware, keyloggers, and other heavyweight malware that will be very difficult to remove even for well-known antimalware applications.

Browser Protect could also be used to promote fake online shopping websites. Some shopping websites could dupe you into buying a product and never receiving it. Others might try to extract your banking credentials if you enter them into a fake cash-out window. All in all, Browser Protect is bad news, and we encourage you to remove it as soon as possible.

If you don’t want to infect your computer with even more dangerous malware, you should definitely get rid of Browser Protect. You should also take into account the fact that the application might help cyber criminals extract baking credentials and other information. So do not hesitate to remove this infection using our manual removal guide below.
