ZenSearch

ZenSearch is a potentially unwanted program that functions as a search provider. When we compared the search results it provided with more popular search engines, we noticed that ZenSearch gives more sponsored content. With a privacy policy that claims not to be responsible for its third-party partners, ZenSearch causes us to worry about possible security threats on those sponsored websites. While most of them are probably harmless, there could be some dangerous threats hosted there. We think you should remove ZenSearch just to be safe.

While ZenSearch installs a toolbar and changes your default search engine, homepage, and new tab page to zensearch.com, we cannot classify it as a browser hijacker. The main difference between this potentially unwanted program and hijackers is that ZenSearch installation isn’t silent, meaning that it asks for your permission to get installed and tells you what it’s going to do once it’s there. It’s also not hard at all to remove ZenSearch, while browser hijackers could prove more troublesome to get rid of.

Even if you can easily download ZenSearch from its website at zensearch.com, it’s more likely that you got it while installing a bundle of freeware. Depending on the type of software it contained aside from ZenSearch, some of it could prove to be difficult to remove. Seeing as adware and malware are known to be distributed via bundles, it’s a good idea to get a reputable malware removal program. It will perform a full system scan and get rid of all threats.

We have to emphasize that ZenSearch is not dangerous by itself. It could be annoying, because it changes your browser settings, but even that is done with permission. Our one worry about this program is that ZenSearch disclaims any responsibility for the safety of its sponsored content. When you search for something using this engine, the results could contain a varying number of sponsored links. These links could sometimes contain adware or malware installers. Through no fault of its own, ZenSearch could lead you to danger. It’s best to prevent it by removing ZenSearch from your computer.

To remove ZenSearch, you can simply uninstall it via Control Panel. If you don’t know how to do that, instructions are provided below. However, we must caution you. Sometimes, threats to your system are hidden very well. You might not even know they’re there. To make sure that your computer is absolutely safe, you should download a professional malware removal program and run a full system scan.
