Surfvox

Surfvox is a browser hijacker with an elaborate distribution scheme. If you often download various TV series via torrent sites, you have to be extremely careful because this browser hijacker uses fake torrent files to spread around. Once it enters your computer, Surfvox changes your default homepage and search engine settings. It may not seem like a big problem at first, but browser hijackers are dangerous threats that can help other malware infections enter your system. Thus, you must remove Surfvox from your computer at once and stay away from unreliable torrent sites.

The central point of browser hijacking is that a computer infection modifies browser settings without user’s permission. It means that surfvox.com becomes your default homepage behind your back. Taking into consideration the main web page, Surfvox seems to be offering mortgages and loans online. This website has countless articles on investing, business, credit cards and so on. It makes an impression that Surfvox is the real deal, but that is exactly what browser hijacking is about – money. It changes your homepage in order to force hits to affiliate websites. It increases advertising revenue and browser hijacker’s creators get rich. You can stop it by deleting Surfvox from your computer.

If you are a Game of Thrones fan, you definitely have a bigger chance to get infected with Surfvox. As it has been mentioned above, Surfvox travels with a fake torrent named Game of Throws S04E09 HDTV x246-KILLERS[ettv]. If you download this fake file, you will create a directory with a broken video file and a codec executable file. The codec file might be named DivX Player.exe or communitycodecs.exe. When you try to play the video file, your video player will crash after a few seconds. Then you will be pushed into launching one of the codec files. Although codec installer works, by launching the file you also automatically install Surfvox onto your computer.

Consequently, the next time you open your browser (Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Internet Explorer); you will see Surfvox.com for your homepage. This website also displays banner ads, and it goes without saying that you cannot click them. To ensure that your system is adequately protected against various threats, you have to terminate Surfvox and anything related to this browser hijacker right now.

To achieve that, you have to kill the browser hijacker’s process via Windows Task Manager, delete its folder and then reset your browser settings to default. Afterwards, scan your computer with SpyHunter free scanner to find other unwanted applications on your computer. Do not hesitate to acquire a powerful antimalware tool that would help you avoid similar infections in the future.

I did all of this but it is still on my PC. When I tried to access the Roaming folder it flashed on the closed out. I also tried with the Registry Editor and it also flashed then closed out. I also found in Task Manager nvxasnyc and I ended it but it came right back. I tried ending it over and over but it still came back. I right clicked it then clicked Open file location, it flashed it and closed. Can anyone help?

issue. It was everywhere. Browsers had to be cleaned of cookies changed to a search engine. 12 hours I sat trying to get this awful virus but I've managed it. Hope this helps. Only way around it was changing names of the virus scanners that it's obviously been designed to stop you getting because they can delete it.

I contacted the host and had their website taken down, so even if your browser gets hijacked, you just have to reinstall the browser. You don't have to worry about an ad filled website.
