Zapp

Zapp is an adware application. Adware programs are there to generate financial revenue for their creators. Their behavior balances on the line of legal and illegal. Most of the time, Zapp and similar applications are merely annoying. Nevertheless, it does not mean that you should keep this program on your computer. Adware programs often expose users to corrupted websites, and it sometimes even leads to malicious infection. Remove Zapp from your computer right now. You must also check whether you have similar applications installed because adware programs seldom travel alone.

We can say that Zapp does not travel alone because in our case it arrived bundled with a third party installer. This application was part of Supermarket Management software setup. It also means that users can choose whether they want to install Zapp on their computers or not. However, users very often skip important installation steps, because they blindly trust third party installers. That is a faulty practice. By skipping installation steps, you allow potentially unwanted programs to enter your system.

Zapp is developed by Simply Tech Ltd. and uses Widdit extension platform from widdit.com. When this application enters your computer, it adds extensions to all main browsers (Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer). With the extensions added, you can be sure that Zapp will collect data on what websites you frequent. Sooner or later, you will notice commercial advertisements appear on your browser. It is also very likely that Zapp will slow down your browser, and you will not be able to browse the Internet properly.

What is more, Zapp starts each time you turn on your computer automatically. Scheduled task names include “SystemSockets” and “Zapp Browser Updater.” These tasks launch WConnectorSockets.exe and WremoteUpdate.exe files. As these files run in the background of the system, they update Zapp without you even realizing it.

A lot of adware applications enter target computers accidentally, and Zapp is of no exception. If you did not want to have this program on board, you must remove it. It is not hard to uninstall Zapp via Control Panel. Some users choose to ignore this program because it does not seem to cause any harm. However, we would not recommend that because in the long run adware programs can be exploited by malevolent third parties. Before you know, Zapp could expose you to unreliable third party material.

Any security-minded computer user should consider computer security his or her utmost priority. Therefore, when you remove Zapp from your computer, scan your system with SpyHunter free scanner in search for other potentially dangerous applications.
