OnlineMapFinder Toolbar

Before you install a new toolbar onto your computer you should stop and think whether you really need it. In case of OnlineMapFinder Toolbar, we strongly recommend against installing the application. It is a browser extension that is supposed to help search detailed maps and traffic conditions, but it is a part of an extensive family of Mindspark toolbars that are often considered potentially unwanted applications. Thus, if you have this application on your computer, you should remove OnlineMapFinder Toolbar and then scan your PC for other potential threats that might be hiding in the depths of the system.

That is not to say that OnlineMapFinder Toolbar infects your computer on purposes. It is not a computer infection, because the application requires your permission to be installed on the computer. What is more, some users may treat this plug-in as a browser hijacker, because it changes the default home page and search provider, but the truth is that you are asked whether you want your browser settings modified or not during the installation. If you miss this step, your default home page and search engine are changed to Ask.com.

It is a feature common to all browser extensions developed by Mindspark. Therefore, although OnlineMapFinder Toolbar may have a different purpose, technically it is very similar to Zwinky Toolbar, MyScrapNook Toolbar, Filmfanatic Toolbar and many other applications from the same family. Security research suggests that users may download the toolbar at onelinemapfinder.com. Nevertheless, based on the behavior of previously released add-ons, it is possible for OnlineMapFinder Toolbar to arrive bundled with freeware as well.

Disregarding how you go through the installation process, eventually the application adds an extension on your browser, and if you have Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox set as your default browser, you will have to remove OnlineMapFinder Toolbar manually via browser’s settings. Control Panel removal works for Internet Explorer only.

The main reason why you should remove OnlineMapFinder Toolbar is not because it is a dangerous computer threat, but because the plug-in is highly vulnerable to third party exploitation. Not to mention that the Ask.com search engine it uses has been discontinued over 3 years ago. Since it is no longer supported by its developer, you can never know what kind of websites you could be exposed to via OnlineMapFinder Toolbar.

Make use of the removal instructions below to delete OnlineMapFinder Toolbar and then invest in a licensed antispyware tool that would help you determine and terminate all the other potentially unwanted applications that are bound to be present on your computer.
