4Shared Toolbar

4Shared Toolbar is a free browser add-on which can change the settings of your browsers and provided you with various advertisements. The application works on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. It is promoted at 4shared.ourtoolbar.com, which is one of the websites on which you can find Conduit-based browser extensions. We recommend that you remove this application in order to prevent exposure to insecure websites and advertisements, which may have some adverse results. Moreover, if you are familiar with a file backup program 4shared available at 4shared.com, you should keep in mind that the application and the toolbar in question have nothing in common.

If you pay no attention to the installation process of the toolbar, you may easily skip important information that informs you about the changes that can be made on the browsers. However, the so-called hijacker uses the engine info.trovi.com. Since 4Shared Toolbar promotes Conduit, you are offered to replace your home page to search.conduit.com. The startup page generates display advertisements, which you should ignore for safety reasons. The search engine is not liable for the content of the advertisements and the websites to which those advertisements belong, and you cannot be sure to what website you will be taken. If you are directed to an unknown website, you should remain calm and start to interact with the website only when you are certain that it is safe. There are tens of malicious websites that may trick you into downloading some computer application, which may be a computer infection. One of the means to prevent such occurrences is the removal of 4Shared Toolbar, which you should carry out right now, especially if you have installed the toolbar by accident.

4Shared Toolbar may differ on different browsers. On Mozilla Firefox, it promotes PriceGong and Value Apps, which are browser extensions that provides users with search-based coupons and advertisements. Moreover, it contains a links to Facebook, calendar, and some other websites. On Internet Explorer, 4Shared Toolbar is powered by a radio player, weather forecasts, and some other links. Some tracking technologies may be used to monitor how you interact with the toolbar; more specifically, how often you click the main “Let’s go” button on the toolbar, what search terms you enter in the search box, and the like. The same information may be collected by Conduit in order to determine your browsing patterns and provide you with advertisements that match your browsing interests.

We recommend that you remove 4Shared Toolbar from the computer so that you can browse the Internet as usual. You can rid the browsers of 4Shared Toolbar by implementing a spyware removal tool, but choose a powerful one which is capable of fighting malware and spyware infections off.
