Danger level 3
Type: Potentially Unwanted Application

Pokki

With each new software development, no matter how much a particular software program would improve, there are always users who are not satisfied with the change. Windows 8 operating system is especially vulnerable to such judgments. Being an operating system that is oriented towards tablets, it got rid of Start menu, and a lot of desktop users have expression their dissatisfaction with it. However, this is where Pokki comes up. This software application can be easily used by Windows 8 users on their computers, as this application framework program basically restores the missing Start menu within its environment.

Therefore, it goes without saying that Pokki is a legitimate program developed by SweetLabs, Inc. If you need the application you can download it at pokki.com, and the software is compatible with all main Windows platforms – Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. The fact that Pokki is a user-friendly program means that in case you no longer want to utilize this program, you can easily uninstall it from your computer.

As far as “Pokki for Windows 8” is concerned, this version of the program was first released in October 2012, and it took it less than 3 months to accumulate over a 1.5 million users. One of the main reasons why Pokki is so popular among Windows 8 users is the fact that is offers an alternative to Start menu which is, obviously, missing from Windows 8.

Perhaps, one of the few disadvantages that this program has is it its vast dependence on the Internet. Although you can perform searches for various applications within Pokki’s environment, the program still need the Internet connect in order to search for the applications. What is more, you cannot mix Pokki’s application search together with the documents and files on local hard drive. Not to mention that Pokki does not have a function that would allow you to search for a specific website.

Either way, since Pokki is an absolutely safe program, you do not need to worry about its security. However, it is important to stress, that programs should be downloaded only from official sources. Downloading from third party websites may result in installation of additional software you do not even need. Also, in case you no longer want to use Pokki, you can uninstall it manually.

Not sure how this POS got onto my PC in the first place. Looks like it installed itself a few hours ago and the first I knew was when HostAppServiceUpdater.exe kept crashing.

Anyway. If I've done without it until now I can carry on without it.
