Ask Toolbar

Ask Toolbar is a browser extension that is compatible with Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. It is an official product of Ask search engine that can be downloaded at toolbar.ask.com. Naturally, the toolbar might as well be downloaded bundled with freeware from third party websites. This is why some users consider Ask Toolbar a malicious browser hijacker (which is not true). If Ask Toolbar is installed when it comes bundled with freeware, users probably do not notice that along with the software they have downloaded, they install additional applications as well. You can easily remove Ask Toolbar manually, and it does not pose any kind of risk to your PC or your data security.

The point is that Ask Toolbar always prompts you about the oncoming installation. If you choose to install a full setup of this application you will have your home page changed to search.ask.com. There is also an option that allows you to keep your browser settings that were set before the plugin installation. Also, if you go through Ask Toolbar's EULA, you will see that this application does not gather or reveal any data that is related to your web browsing habits.
