DefaultTab

DefaultTab is a suspicious browser plugin which does not have an official download page and which usually travels via bundled downloads. As you may already suspect, the application is considered precarious, and we recommend its removal. Fortunately, it is not difficult to delete DefaultTab if you catch it in time and apply the right removal steps. Needless to say, to be able to delete the suspicious add-on, you firstly need to detect it. If you have noticed the following notification, or you see the Search Here tab attached to your Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome browsers, there is no doubt that the program has been installed on your PC.

The following program suggested a new default search provider:
Search Results, LLC
Change to Search Here (www.mysearchresults.com)

The browser add-on is constructed of two important components – DefaultTabSearch.exe which can employ ports to connect to LAN and the Internet, and DTUpdate.exe. This file may run on your Windows system as X_DTUPDATE.EXE and it is recognized as adware, an application with is supported through online advertisement. Apart from flooding your screen with misleading online ads, these files can reroute you to affiliate websites and employ industry-wide technologies (e.g. cookies) to track your virtual activity. Is this safe? It is not if malignant third parties are involved.

In case schemers tricked the developers of DefaultTab (or paid them money) to leak your personal data, they could expose you to misleading, malicious online ads. These could be used to involve you in phishing scams or even trick you into downloading more dangerous files and programs onto your own PC. Overall, we recommend browsing the web carefully until you remove DefaultTab from the computer.

You can delete DefaultTab manually if your computer has not been affected by secondary infections. Do you know what manual removal steps you need to perform?
