Blekko Search

Blekko search engine is a legitimate website that aims to provide spam-free search. It has quite a few browser extensions to offer for Internet users and Blekko Search bar is one of them. Blekko Search is different from other major search engines in a way that it introduces slash tags into search and a lot of social features. The search engine can be accessed at blekko.com and from there the user can find and download Blekko Search toolbar and other browser plugins. Blekko Search bar is also available at Mozilla add-ons website for Mozilla Firefox users.

Despite the fact that some of the users claim that Blekko Search change their default home pages without their permission, browser add-ons for this search engine usually requires enabling and that is done by the user himself. Unless, of course, you download Blekko Search bundled with other freeware applications you find online, and go through the installation process negligently. However, the bottom line is that generally Blekko Search prompts the user about the browser extension tools that are about to be installed.

If you do not like using Blekko Search bar and you think that the overall features obscure the general search function, you can always remove Blekko Search from your computer. Remove Blekko Search

From Internet Explorer

1. Click the wrench icon on the right side of the bar on your browser.
2. Go to Help --> Uninstall.
3. Follow the uninstall wizard.
4. When you uninstall Blekko Search bar, press Alt+X and select Internet Options.
5. Remove blekko.com at Home page section under General tab.
6. Enter a domain address you prefer and save changes. Exit the menu.
7. Press Alt+X again.
8. Click Manage add-ons and go to Search providers.
9. Remove Blekko search from the list and save changes.

Mozilla Firefox

1. Follow the steps 1, 2 and 3 above.
2. Click Firefox button and click Options.
3. Under General tab remove blekko.com from Home page section.
4. Enter a new home page address and save changes. Exit the menu.
5. Click the search engine icon on the left side of the search bar at the top right corner of the window.
6. Click Manage search engines…
7. Remove Blekko search from the list and save changes.

Google Chrome

1. Follow the first 3 steps of Blekko Search removal instructions for Internet Explorer.
2. Press Alt+F and select Settings.
3. Mark Open a specific page or set of pages under On startup.
4. Select Set pages and remove Blekko.com from the list.
5. Enter a new home page address and click OK.
6. Select Manage search engines under Search.
7. Remove Blekko from the list and set another default search engine.
