Trojan:win64/Sirefef.E

Trojan:win64/Sirefef.E is one of the components from a multi-component Win32/Sirefef Trojan family just like Trojan:Win32/Sirefef.O, Virus:Win32/Sirefef.M and many more. However, just as we can see from its name, Trojan:win64/Sirefef.E is a component that targets systems under 64-bit user-mode. It is one of the many components that belong to Win32/Sirefef rootkit, and it clicks on links provided by the hacker without the user's knowledge or consent. Links used by this Trojan are located on a remote server Trojan:win64/Sirefef.E accesses in secret. It also modifies search results to redirect users to predestined websites that are usually malware-related.

When it comes to Win32/Sirefef, these Trojans do not infect the target system one by one. The system is ambushed by a whole horde of Trojans and their components that actually install each other. Trojan:win64/Sirefef.E is of no exception either - it is dropped onto the system by Trojan:Win32/Sirefef.J and Backdoor:Win32/Smadow. These Trojan droppers and backdoors are also responsible for dropping other similar components from Win32/Sirefef family onto target systems. As a matter of fact, Trojan:win64/Sirefef.E also has a 32-bit counterpart that is detected as Trojan:Win32/Sirefef.P.

Trojan:win64/Sirefef.E is installed as click_shell.dll in one of the folders that it creates during the installation. The folders created by the infection are hidden, but in case the user finds them and tries to access them, Trojan:win64/Sirefef.E blocks the access, in order to protect itself.

Once Trojan:win64/Sirefef.E settles in, it generates traffic to a list of websites without the user's knowledge, and is also responsible for redirecting the user to particular websites that are usually related to malware applications. This way Trojan:win64/Sirefef.E exposes you to other possible infections. Thus, it is obvious that you have to remove Trojan:win64/Sirefef.E from your computer along with the remaining components of Win32/Sirefef. If you get yourself a computer security program, you will be able to get rid of all the infections at once, because the program will do it for you. The sooner you get rid of Trojan:win64/Sirefef.E the less damage it can cause.
