Program:MSIL/RegDefense is a fake optimization application which falsely informs PC owners that their systems are being overrun with crippling errors. This fake defragger was first released on 25 May, 2011, and makes use of genuine looking graphical user interfaces to gain the trust of its victims. However despite all of these theatrics, Program:MSIL/RegDefense does not have the ability to detect or fix any type of system error, and was designed by criminals simply to rip consumers off.
This rogue defragger will enter the system without the user’s permission, and will not relent until the user either pays for or decides to get rid of Program:MSIL/RegDefense. It will not alert the user to its presence until the rogue is ready to start its attack against the system. This will usually happen by Program:MSIL/RegDefense initiating a fake system scan which will deliver bogus scan results informing the user of various errors on the system.
Shortly after the fake scan users will start receiving spam pop up messages informing them that their system is not operating optimally, and that they should pay Program:MSIL/RegDefense to fix their systems. This is completely fake and users are warned against ever paying for any Program:MSIL/RegDefense product.
Program:MSIL/RegDefense will be responsible for numerous crippling and utterly irritating symptoms on the system, which it will blame on the various nonexistent errors. Some of the reported symptoms associated with the Program:MSIL/RegDefense infection range from blocked Internet connections and the inability to launch applications on the infected PC. This is done to further panic and annoy the user, but also to prevent him from downloading or running an application which may be able to detect and erase Program:MSIL/RegDefense from the system. Other symptoms include randomly generated and deleted Desktop items, extremely poor system performance and increased erratic system behaviour.
In order to restore your PC’s security and privacy, obliterate Program:MSIL/RegDefense immediately. This can safest and easiest be achieved by using the removal power of a genuine security tool which will not only erase Program:MSIL/RegDefense but also protect against future attacks.
