ProtectOne has been determined to originate from Korea, and is another rogue security tool to emanate from that camp. It is not a legitimate security tool and was designed with the sole intention of ripping you off. Despite what it would like its victims to believe with its seemingly genuine looking graphical user interfaces, ProtectOne does not have the ability to detect or remove any type of infection or threat from a computer.
ProtectOne makes use of established forms of infection, using Trojans to root its infection into its host PC. These Trojans are distributed via fake online malware scanners and bogus security tools. Disturbing symptoms of a ProtectOne infection include Google and Yahoo searches being redirected to seditious browser hijackers offering online payment portals where users can pay for ProtectOne, and the Desktop background image and browser homepage settings are unilaterally changed by ProtectOne.
This rogue will also dramatically slow down the computer, leaving the user intensely frustrated and annoyed. It will be near impossible to run programs, browsing the Internet or shutting down the computer. Another major symptom of this infection is the generating of many fake security alerts aimed at causing panic in the user. This infection will also alter important Windows system files and registry settings, and will cause the system to crash if the user does not get rid of ProtectOne.
The only way you will be able to take back control of your PC will be to erase ProtectOne from the system for good. Do this by making use of a genuine security tool which will not only destroy ProtectOne but also protect against future similar attacks.
