Mal/Delf-M

Mal/Delf-M is a dubious malware application.

Mal/Delf-M is found to delete important files from an infected system, and may actually affect the computer system or network to such an extent - leaving it completely unusable.

Mal/Delf-M does not make use of network resources to spread itself, and its dubious affiliations, but can spread across a network by attaching itself to other computer worms.

Mal/Delf-M can also tends to open up a backdoor exploit via which an attacker can gain access to any data stored on the infected machine, the likes of: personal and financial information.

It is also not uncommon for Mal/Delf-M to employ the infiltrated PC system as a platform from which to launch and perform illegal botnet attacks.

Also considered by many experts as Cloaked malware, Mal/Delf-M is capable of performing the following behavior on an infected PC:

* Changes the Internet Explorer Search Page
* Creation and Registration of a Browser Helper Object in Internet Explorer
* Registers a Dynamic Link Library File
* Deleted as a process from disk
* Created as a process on disk
* Registered as a Dynamic Link Library File
* Allows parasites associated with the file to operate invisibly in the background
* May record your credit cards, bank passwords and other personal information
* Parasites operate on your PC while malicious file is present on the system

Mal/Delf-M tends to enter into a computer system via dubious scripts, embedded in JavaScript or VBS, however there are other ways the infection can enter into a system, via:

• Operating system and web browser exploits
• Unsafe Internet surfing practices
• The downloading and installing of Freeware and Shareware
• The use of Peer-to-peer (P2P) applications
• Visiting questionable web sties

The most important thing to remember is that Mal/Delf-M should be removed from a computer system as soon as it has been detected!
