SmartBrowser is a form of Browser hijacker adware, which is controlled by smart-browser.com. SmartBrowser opens pop-up advertisements, usually from pornographic sites and redirects the browser. It is important to bear in mind that these sites may attempt to load premium-rate diallers. SmartBrowser also sends spam messages from the user’s computer to Yahoo! Chat, making use of automatically generated account names. The pop-up advertisements that a system will be shown are based on keywords entered into Internet Explorer windows, which SmartBrowser is capable of deciphering. SmartBrowser may also download and execute files from a remote server. SmartBrowser, being a form of Adware, is a software application in which advertising is displayed while the program is running. SmartBrowser Adware is capable of tracking personal information. SmartBrowser has been known to change the user’s default home page.
